I love random sounds. Anyway, not much going on since the last update. I have one pot ready to go in the glaze, a larger fruitbowl waiting to be glazed next week, and hopefully they'll be firing the Raku kiln so I can get my third piece done - it was too wet yesterday, I probably put it on a little too thick. Ah well, at least I don't have to worry so much about dripping!

Pictures perhaps to come at a later date, as I'm heading to an all-nighter soon.

I was able to make some decent pots and  bowls last week, two or three with fairly even thickness, even! A miracle for me, haha. I'm always getting really thin upper walls/lips that break way too easy before I can get 'em bisqued. I still like 'em though, it gives them character!

Here's the two most recent ones; they're currently waiting in a sealed bag to be footed this upcoming week.

Yeah, I know. I'm real inventive with titles.

Anywho! I'm currently working on a box for Mom, so she can have something pretty to put her new bamboo plant in. It sits in standing water, so I don't have to worry about holes or trays or anything. I'm carving bamboo on one long side, a dragonfly and probably mushroom - possibly seahorse, but probably not - on either short side, and some sort of writing - Mot? Who knows - on the other longside. Mrs. H gave me the wonderful advice to soften and slope the outside edge of the carvings, to make it "pop out" like 3D.

TheJazz Unlimited Festival was totally awesome! We all learned a lot, heard some great stuff, I sort of like (vocal) Jazz now, and we met some awesome people in CBC's FreeForm Jazz group!

... And this computer has the worst spacebar ever, half the time it doesn't work first try =/ You practically have to pound it to get it to work...Blah.

Anywho! I didn't do much last week - whichi s what this post is for, since i was gone Wednesday through Sunday for the choir trip - since, as just said, I was gone for most of it, but I got a bit of glazing done and this week I retreived a small, shallow bowl that I'm not particularly fond of the glazing on, and a larger pot-bowl that I did in three or four color with stripes and drips and stuff and it turned out totally awesome!

And that's all for this post, because I'm awesome and museless like that. Kiyevame, ma eylan!

ADVANCED First quarter Ceramics Evaluation Due 3/30

Name: Kelsie                                  Period: 4th
Date: March 30th, 2012

I make an effort to do something productive each day, whether it's throwing clay (on the wheel!), glazing (where'd I leave that paintbrush?), or making a hand-project. I haven't actually completed any of those hand-projects yet, however... I intend to, though! ... Eventually?

Anyway. I make sure to clean up any mess I make, and do as thorough a job as I can, although I'm occasionally pressed for time and cannot do it quite as well as I would otherwise like to. When I'm throwing, this tends to leave me a little late behind the lunch bell, so I don't manage to get around to doing my class-cleanup job, which is cleaning the throwing-buckets; I'll make a better effort this next quarter to improve in that department.

I pay attention to instructions and announcements as best I can despite any surrounding distractions. Even when I'm fetching something from or setting up a wheel in the back at the beginning of class, my ears are locked onto what's going on at the front of the classroom. I'm also fairly easy to get the attention of: Just say or call my name, and chances are I'll usually hear at least the "ie" bit at the end, and since Mom's conditioned me to respond to it I undoubtedly will, even if it's just a "Whowhatwhere?" =P

 ~*~*~*~
I haven't exactly followed the official project-list this quarter. I did try and at least get the soup-bowls made at the beginning, but everything I tried either broke apart or wasn't suitable, and after a couple weeks I just sort of threw my hands up at the whole thing. I think the problem was that I was trying too hard to shape the clay, and it kept backfiring on me. Ah, well.

As it currently stands, I have about four bowls of various shape and sizes and two pots fully fired and glazed, two more pots bisqued and waiting, and two (I think) pots and two small planters dry and ready to fire. I haven't put them up on the blog yet, but I shall indeed do so today/tonight. Part of the reason, I'll admit, is that without my iPod - which was finally found and returned by my Youth Pastor! - pictures are a greater hassle to take off the camera and transfer them to my computer. But they will be put up, and again, I'll make a greater effort next quarter to keep on top of these sorts of things.

Just to say that I, at last, have my Grading Blog and Gallery pages up, they can be found in the drop-down menu for "Fourth Advanced Ceramics Blog." Which you probably already know by now, since that's kinda how you got to this page in the first place, haha.

Also. I got double Ceramics today. Yup, that's right - I went to what I thought was Fourth p

Well, last week was just lovely! I was out sick with the flu all week, so no blog from then. Already back in the swing of things, though, thankfully; I have two projects waiting to be glazed and kilned, and another two ready to be initialed and bisqued.

What stinks, though, is that I put three pieces in the kiln to be fired over the weekend before last. When I got back just this last Monday, though, I found only one - apparently someone thought it would be a great idea to take my other two projects! Grr. At least they were only bowls, though I was defiintely looking forward to seeing how they came out - they were going to be a set of three, with the same glazes in the same pattern but different order for each.

If you've seen them - violet, black, and blue were the glazes; one inside, one outside, and one dripping down from the rim - please let me know, thanks!

Eh. I'm not feeling particularly creative at the moment, so I'll leave the default title up. It's true, anyway.

Anywho! Got four things out of the glaze today, though I need to reglaze some of them. Got three more I need to thicken the glazecoat on, then off they go to the kiln next week.

Nothing much else to report at the moment. So, time for some Zumba!
